TMC800 5-Axis Turn-Mill Center User Manual – Setup, Operation and Maintenance
The Handemo TMC800 is a 5-axis turn-mill center that combines turning, milling, drilling and tapping in one setup. This manual covers installation, multi-axis setup, programming workflow, full technical specifications and preventive maintenance for high-mix, complex-part production.

1. Installation and Foundation
The TMC800 requires a reinforced concrete foundation due to its weight. Level the machine within 0.02 mm/m. Connect power with correct phase sequence, and verify the hydraulic and coolant systems before first power-on.
2. Axis Reference and Calibration
After power-on, reference all axes including C-axis and the milling spindle orientation. Verify the B-axis (if equipped) returns to zero. Run a calibration cycle to confirm the C-axis indexing function.
3. Multi-Axis Workholding
Use a hydraulic chuck or custom fixture for complex parts. Verify the part datum in the turning coordinate system and the milling coordinate system are consistent. Set G54 with the C-axis zero at the part reference.
4. Tool Setup for Turn-Mill
Mount turning tools in the turret and milling tools in the driven stations. Enter offsets for both tool types. Verify the driven tool orientation matches the program (e.g., M19 spindle orientation).
5. Programming the 5-Axis Cycle
Use CAM-generated programs for complex contours. Simulate the full cycle, checking tool paths for collisions between the turret, tailstock and workpiece. Run the first part in single block with reduced feed.
6. Production and Quality Check
Monitor the first-part dimensions with in-process probing if available. Verify the C-axis synchronization during milling. Establish a documented cycle for repeatable quality.
Preventive Maintenance Schedule
Daily
Clean the turret, chuck and work area; check hydraulic oil level and temperature; check coolant concentration; inspect way covers.
Weekly
Check the C-axis drive belt; lubricate the milling spindle; clean the tool magazine sensors; verify the tailstock alignment.
Monthly
Inspect the hydraulic system pressure; check the spindle cooling unit; verify axis backlash on all axes; clean electrical cabinet filters.
Every 6 Months
Replace hydraulic oil and filters; inspect the C-axis coupling; verify turret indexing accuracy; check all safety interlocks and emergency stops.
Frequently Asked Questions
